Tigers listed in NCAA baseball statistics

INDIANAPOLIS| Stillman College’s Hampton Gibbs is seventh in the nation in doubles per game and sixth nationally in doubles according to this week’s NCAA Division II baseball statistics officials.

Five Tigers are listed in the top 50 in several statistical categories, while Stillman is ranked in ten team categories.

Gibbs, a senior third baseman from Greenville, SC is listed twice in the rankings with 18 doubles in 33 games and .53 doubles per game.

Sophomore second baseman Reynaldo Valdes from Naples, FL, is seventh nationally in hits with 68 hits in 155 at-bats. Valdes is 46th in total bases with 93 and is the 33rd toughest batter to strikeout with only 8 strikeouts in 155 at-bats. Valdes is leading Stillman in batting average with a .439 average on the season.

Senior shortstop Sean Blair from Palm City, FL is 45th nationally in homeruns per game with .31 per contest. Blair is 33rd nationally with 11 homeruns, 38th in runs per game with 1.38 per contest, 44 runs scored, and 32nd in slugging percentage with a .788 percentage. Blair is also 46th in stolen bases with 21, and 36th nationally in triples with 4 on the season.

Kyle McCreless, a Haleyville, AL native is 18th nationally in doubles with 15 on the season.

Tuscaloosa, Al native Chase Wilson is 29th nationally with 57 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched. Wilson is 43rd nationally in strikeouts per nine innings with 10.20 strikeouts per nine innings pitched.

As a team, Stillman is listed 3rd in triples, 11th in doubles, 19th in runs, and 26th in hits.

Stillman (20-21,13-2) returns to Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play this weekend as the Tigers host rival Miles College for a three-game series, beginning with Saturdays 1 p.m. opener.
