The Student Development Center offers a combination of services for new and returning students including orientation sessions, counseling, career/graduate school services, and health services.

 

Counseling and Career/Graduate School Related Services

The Student Development Center, staffed with professionals, provides counseling, crisis intervention, and career-related services, including graduate school and job placement and summer educational program assistance. Services are designed to promote self-understanding and awareness; facilitate the development of interpersonal and career-related skills; and enable students to clarify their values, establish personal development goals, and make sound life plans.

Health Services

The College provides a health facility, employs a nurse practitioner, a licensed practical nurse, and retains the services of a physician to serve the health needs of students. Services and the facility are used on a temporary and emergency basis. Full-time students are required to participate in the Student Accident and Health Insurance Program or present proof of private insurance.

Orientation of New Students


A carefully planned program of orientation for first- year and transfer students is conducted at the beginning of each semester. The administration of certain tests and sessions on campus life take place before the formal opening of the academic year. All first-year and transfer students are required to participate.
