STILLMAN WELCOMES NEW ASSISTANT VP OF ALUMNI AFFAIRS

With more than 20 years of experience in higher education, Renwick Orlando Jones was appointed as Stillman’s Assistant Vice President of Alumni Affairs.
With a communications background in higher education spanning 23 years, Jones brings expertise to the position. Jones served as Director of Alumni Relations and Annual & Planned Giving at Alabama State University (ASU) for 10 years. He has also been a Satellite Uplink Manager for Auburn University, and served as Producer-Director III in the Office of University Relations at Auburn for several years. Jones has also worked as Videographer and Production Assistant at CBS affiliate, WAKA-TV in Montgomery, Alabama, and as Audio-Visual Tape Editor for CNN in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, Jones served as News Anchor and Reporter for WVAS-FM Radio at ASU and Sports Director and News Reporter at WXVI Radio in Montgomery, Alabama.
While working at Auburn, Jones helped to create a new cable television network. While working at ASU, he was able to increase alumni giving from the Golden Reunion Classes, launch new programs such as the Women’s Council, The Campus Alumni Advisory Council, The Alabama State University Golden Volunteers and the H.A.R.T. (Hornet Alumni Recruiting Team) Program in the Office of Alumni Relations at ASU.
Jones received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications Media with a minor in French from ASU. He received his Master of Arts in Communication from Auburn.
“When I came to Stillman to interview, I was impressed with the campus and the warm reception from the people. I also like the College’s mission. It is focused; some schools’ missions are all over the place, but at Stillman it is concise and it makes sense.”
When asked what he wants people to know about him in this new role, Jones answered, “I am here for them; the faculty, the staff, the alumni. I am here for them all.”
Jones is a former member of the Alumni Task Force for the Higher Education Partnership and current member of the Alabama Education Association and National Education Association. He was past president of the Central Alabama Crimestoppers’ Board. He is a member and Ex-Officio of the Alabama State University National Alumni Association, a member of the Auburn University Outreach Council, and was appointed Vice-Chair of the Auburn University Administrative and Professional Assembly Grievance Committee. Jones is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Alpha Psi Omega Dramatic Fraternity.
