Stillman to Host Annual Christmas Concert on Dec. 12

The internationally renowned Stillman Choir, along with the Stillman College Wind ensemble, will hold its annual Christmas Candlelight Concert on Sunday, December 12 at 6 p.m. in Birthright Auditorium.

 
The Stillman Choir has been acclaimed in numerous reviews, which highlight the choir’s ability to perform distinct areas of music such as spirituals, contemporary gospel and other genres. They will be performing Gustav Holst’s Christmas Day, which is a larger choral work based on familiar Christmas tunes. The concert will feature traditional Christmas hymns and yuletide favorites, including Mary Had a Baby and O’ Holy Night.

Led by Phillip Todd Westgate, DMA, the Stillman Choir has performed internationally and participated in numerous festivals, musical competitions and other choral activities. Locally, the choir has performed with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, the Johnson Symphony Orchestra and for the Alabama Governor’s Arts Award Program.

Seating will begin at 6 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Tickets are available in the Stillman business office.
