Stillman Homecoming Weekend Has Something for Everyone

One of the major highlights of the fall semester is the annual homecoming celebration. This weekend, thousands of alumni, donors, and community supporters will converge on the Stillman campus.

On Friday, November 11th, the Homecoming Golf Tournament will be held at The Links. Registration for this event is $75 and will begin at 7 a.m. At 12:30 p.m., the Blue Pride Luncheon will begin in the Hay Center Cafeteria. At 3 p.m., there will be a general membership meeting for the National Alumni Association of Stillman College (NAASC) in Stinson Auditorium. At 4:30 p.m., the President’s Reception for Alumni will be held on the second floor of the Education Building. A little later that evening at 5:45 p.m., there will be a pep rally followed by fireworks in the Wynn Center parking lot. The Educator Hall of Fame will be held in Birthright Auditorium at 8 p.m. Tickets for the Educator’s Hall of Fame dinner are $25.

Friday evening’s events will end with a Victory Bonfire in the Physical Plant parking lot. Head Stillan Tigers football coach Teddy Keaton will have the honor of lighting the bonfire.

On Saturday, November 12th, the annual Homecoming Parade will take place in downtown Tuscaloosa.  The Parade begins at 9 a.m. and starts at the corner of 22nd Avenue and University Boulevard. The parade will end at the corner of 22nd Avenue and 11th Avenue.

Following the parade at 12:15, The Dr. Thomas E. Lyle Battle of the Bands will take place in the Stillman Stadium. The Battle of the Bands will feature Paul W. Bryant High School of Tuscaloosa, Ramsey High School of Birmingham, Frederick Douglas High School of Atlanta and Columbus High School of Columbus, Miss.
At 2 p.m., the Homecoming game against Concorida will commence. Tickets to the game are $20 for executive seating (blue seats), $15 for general admission, and $5 for children 6-12 years old.

At 8 p.m., there will be a Greek Step Show in Birthright Auditorium.  Stillman students can purchase tickets for $10. Advance tickets are $15 and tickets purchased at the door will be $20.

Further, on Saturday, November 12, all pedestrians and vehicle traffic arriving on the campus at the main entrance must pay an entry fee: adult walk-on ($5.00) / children 12 years old and under walk-on ($1.00) or parking fee ($10.00) to gain admittance to the campus. Walkers who have purchased a game ticket will not be required to pay a walk-on fee.

Parking and Traffic Rules for Homecoming 2011

Homecoming 2011 is upon us. To ensure that the campus community, alumni and friends of the College have a memorable experience, the following guidelines should be reviewed and adhered to:

Friday, November 11, 2011

1:00 p.m.
RV’s can begin to arrive on campus. All RV’s will enter 40th Avenue entrance.

5:00 p.m.
The Wynn Center parking lot should be cleared of all vehicles to set up for the Pep Rally and remain free of student, faculty and staff vehicles through the remainder of the weekend.

6:00 p.m.
The street in front of the Education Building will be CLOSED at both ends and will remain CLOSED through Sunday, November 13th.

6:30 p.m.
The gate at Brown Memorial will lock and remain closed until Sunday, November 13th.

The street at the traffic circle going to the gazebo, Wynn Hall, Hay Hall and Johnson Robinson will be barricaded and will remain until Sunday, November 13th.
8:00 p.m.

The 40th Avenue entrance will close. All parties will exit the campus through the main entrance.


Saturday, November 12, 2011

8:00 a.m.
Walk-through gates at Knox Hall and Main Entrance at Birthright will open to sell game day tickets. These entrances will be closed after the game begins at 2 p.m.

All pedestrian and vehicle traffic arriving on the campus must pay an entry fee to gain admittance to the campus. Adults walking onto the campus (not attending the game) will be charged $5. Children under the age of 12 years old walking onto the campus will be charged $1.

All vehicles entering the campus will pay a $10 parking fee. Individuals parking on the campus will receive a ticket for paid parking. Tickets should be placed on the dashboard of the vehicle as proof of paid parking.

All faculty, staff, students and game day workers should enter the campus through the 18th Street entrance and park on the east side of the campus. Faculty, staff or students entering the main gate will have to pay a $10 parking fee.

10:00 a.m.
The parking lot directly across from the Birthright Hall should be cleared by 10 a.m.


ATTENTION: All persons planning to attend the Greek Step Show
All first-time vehicles entering the campus will be charged a parking fee of $10. Walk-ons attending the Greek Step Show who have purchased advanced tickets will not be charged a walk-on fee. Walk-ons who do not have a ticket for the Greek Step Show will be charged a $5 walk-on fee.

NOTICE: All persons under the age of 18 will not gain admittance onto the campus without a parent of guardian.

Parking and traffic rules will be strictly enforced by Campus Police.
