Rights & Responsibilities

The benefit of financial aid at any institution requires students to be knowledgeable about their rights and responsibilities as borrowers.  We’ve compiled a list to help students at Stillman better understand these rights and responsibilities:

 

Students Have the Right to Know

Ø  The names of organizations which accredit and license the College

Ø  The College’s programs, instruction, laboratories, physical facilities, and faculty

Ø  The cost of attending the College and its refund policy

Ø  The type of financial assistance offered by the college from Federal, state, local, and private programs

Ø  Who the financial aid personnel are and the location of the Financial Aid Office

Ø  How the College selects its financial aid recipients

Ø  How the college determines financial need

Ø  How much financial need has been met

Ø  How financial aid is received

Ø  About each type of financial assistance offered.  Information about all student loans offered

Ø  The kind of Work-Study jobs offered, hours, duties, rate, and frequency of pay

Ø  When and how financial aid awards are adjusted

Ø  About special facilities for the handicapped

Ø  The College’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy

 

Students Have the Responsibility to

Ø  Review and consider all information about the College prior to enrolling

Ø  Pay special attention to the application for financial aid, complete it accurately, submit it on time and to the right place

Ø  Know all deadlines for applying for aid and meet them

Ø  Provide all required documentation, corrections, and/or information requested by the Financial Aid Office

Ø  Notify the College of any information that has changed since the financial aid application was submitted

Ø  Read, understand, and keep copies of all forms

Ø  Repay any student loans borrowed

Ø  Perform an entrance and exit interview

Ø  Notify the Financial Aid Office of a change in name, address, or enrollment status (half-time, full-time, three-quarter-time)

Ø  Satisfactorily perform the work agreed upon in a Federal Work-Study job description

Ø  Understand the College’s refund policy
