3-pointer leads Benedict past Stillman

Columbia, SC | Aubrey Brown nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer as Benedict College edged Stillman 88-85 Saturday Night.

Stillman Guard Lee Riley made two foul shots with 1:23 left to cut Benedicts lead to 85-80. Following a turnover, guard Rakee Anderson made a 3-poiter. Anderson stole the ball and drove for a layup to tie it at 85 on the very next possession.

On the next possession, Anderson came up with another steal, but committed a turnover that led to brown’s game winning shot. Anderson went 12-17 from the field and 9-12 from the foul line to finish with 35 points. He also had seven steals.

Lajay Sears had 18 points and 12 rebounds. Riley scored 16 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists. Center Gerard Devaughn, who scored four points, finished with eight rebounds.

With the loss, Stillman falls to 12-9 overall, and 10-9 in the SAIC.

Stillman plays at Claflin on Monday in Orangeburg, SC.
